I have always in involved in some form of activity/sports and competition. Competitive swimming, Fitness instructor, cross country skiing, downhill racing as a teenager, running races both long and short as well as long distance bicycle touring and participating in bicycle time trials.
The three sports, swimming, bicycling and running, combined in triathlons grabbed my sense of adventure and has helped to keep me in good health as I got older.
I have had a few careers, and I retired in 2013 from a very busy career as one of the first registered midwives in Ontario. Since retiring, I have been actively involved as a age grouper triathlete in the Ottawa area and beyond.
Health is very important to me. Encouraging others to take up some type of activity to reduce stress and promote a healthy long life is one of my goals. “Gotta keep moving” as said by a dear friend.
I am well supported by my husband, David and my two grown children.
I realize that I have enjoyed the process of preparing and doing triathlons, moving from doing short Sprint Triathlons to doing my first 70.3 in 2007. I have participated in the Barrelman three times and I am thrilled to be an Ambassador for Barrelman Niagara Falls Ambassador Team and to be part of MultiSport Canada.
I am looking forward to sharing my journey over the next eight months.
