I have been actively participating in the sport of triathlon for six years, having first competed at the Toronto Triathlon Festival in 2012. It was instant love – and I have never looked back.
In 2016, I was fortunate enough to make the switch to pursuing Fitness as a career, and I am now the sole proprietor of Jodie Becker Fitness. I am so grateful to spend my days coaching group classes, working with clients 1 on 1, and developing my not-for-profit organization, Fitness for Mental Health.
Triathlon means more to me than just swim-bike-run. The solitude of long hours of training, is such a sharp contrast from the comradery that triathletes have with one another on race day. Furthermore, as someone who experiences anxiety on a regular basis, I use triathlon training to keep my mind sharp, focused, and positive.
My first Barrelman was last year – and I marked that day as my favourite of 2017. What an incredible experience it was!
I am currently working with coach Andrew Flynn at Tri39 Endurance Coaching and together we have established some big goals for me in 2018! I have advanced an age group this year, and now live in the uber-competitive 35-40 category. I look so forward to sharing this journey with the ambassador team, and all of the athletes on September 16th.
