I am a 40-year-old triathlete that has participated in triathlon distances from sprint distance to Ironman distance. My first experience with triathlon was a relay that I did with my brother and my boyfriend (now husband) in 2002. From that day, triathlon has been a passion of mine that I love to share with others. I was always a swimmer, starting at age 7 and finishing as a college athlete. Triathlon was a new challenge that I grew to love.
When I am not triathlon training or racing, I am a 7th grade science teacher, middle school and club swim coach, as well as a youth triathlon coach. I have a wonderful husband who challenges me to continue training and racing, and I have two beautiful daughters that I am able to share my athletic passions with.
My first experience with the Barrelman Triathlon was this past September. Despite the heat, my husband and I really enjoyed this race. It was our first experience doing a Multisport Canada race, and we were extremely impressed with the organization of the event, the professionalism of Multisport Canada, the beauty of the course, and the support and comradery of everyone from event staff and athletes. I am looking forward to being an ambassador for this race, and my hope is to bring awareness of it to many of our Michigan friends so they can have the experience of a lifetime like we did last year.
