Not sure which position is right for you? Here is a summary of what to expect in different volunteer roles:
Bike/Run Course Marshal
Course Marshals – Outgoing? Enthusiastic? Here is your place!
Our course marshals will cheer and give directional aid to athletes. You will be stationed at turns, corners, and intersections along the bike/run course. You will need to have your own transportation to get to your assigned location. You will be directing and cheering athletes on the designated course – you will not have to direct traffic. This is another area where you will need a “big” voice so athletes can hear any instructions you give while the race is going on. Race time is a busy time and a loud, clear, and calm voice is really important.
Major intersections will have police support to direct vehicular traffic. The minimum age is 16; youth may volunteer here if accompanied by their parent or a guardian.
Bike/Run Course Aid Stations
GREAT TEAM or GROUP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!
Our aid stations are located at various locations on the bike course. You will be part of an energetic team that will:
- Set-up the aid station tables and fill cups. All supplies will be delivered to you.
- You will hand-off water &/or sport beverage bottles to athletes as they ride by.
- Cheer on the athletes. Assist Give It A Tri competitors if possible.
- And finally, clean up the aid station by picking up garbage and packing-up tables for pick-up.
If possible, you will need to have your own transportation to get yourself to your assigned position.
Finish Line Area
Enthusiasm is a must here!
You will be part of an energetic team that will:
- Congratulate athletes!
- You may assist the athletes by removing & collecting their timing chips
- You may offer water or fruit.
You may also be called upon to assist athletes to the nearby medical tent if necessary. Minimum age to volunteer here: 16 with parent/guardian approval. Youth can volunteer with an adult.
- If you have any questions please email Andre Gordon at andre@multisportcanada.com or call 705-797-4951.
