Pre-Race Newsletter #1

Sportstats Timing App

This past week there were a number of athletes who posted on the Barrelman Facebook Group page asking about race day tracking. The tracking in previous years was simply live updates of when an athlete went past one of the 7 timing mats on the course. We responded and promised we would see what was available beyond that standard tracking.

We are very pleases to announce that we have increased the number to 12 locations and are going to be using the Sportstats app for athlete tracking. The Sportstats App uses predictive algorithms and will provide projections of when an athlete will be at the next timing location. It also will project bike and run splits as well as finishing time.

We believe this additional expense will be an additional benefit to that athletes and their friends and loved ones will enjoy. You can download the Sportstats App at:

More Scenic Bike

For those of you who have not seen this announcement on the race website or the Barrelman Facebook Group page, there has been a couple of small changes on the bike course. We feel these changes will make the bike more enjoyable.

You will now be staying on Netherby Rd, which becomes Townline Rd., until you reach the Niagara Parkway. This means being on the scenic Niagara Parkway for a few more kilometres before you finish the bike. We also felt that the 2nd bottle exchange came a little too soon and have moved the 2nd bottle exchange 10km further along to the 60km point. This location also makes for a much better bottle exchange location.

You can review the new bike course on the Course Maps page.
