Barrelman was my first international triathlon in 2017. The open water swim was such a great experience! The canal is so flat and fast! It is a huge rectangular swim and you will work but there is no current either way! The bike is a great, flat, fast course with mostly smooth roads. The run, however, is a different beast! The challenge for me has been the hills and heat. The view of the falls make it all worthwhile! This year Multisport Canada has moved the race to a week later in hopes of having cooler temperatures, but I am sure they will not be able to make the hills go away!
I started doing triathlons in 2005, completing in many short distance triathlons for years before moving up to Olympic, half ironman distances, and I have finished 3 Ironman races, Chattanooga, 2014, Maryland, 2015, and Louisville, 2018.
Being an ambassador for Barrelman is such a joy! I loved the race so much I requested to be an ambassador last year and I was accepted! As an ambassador, I encouraged friends from Ohio to participate in this fantastic race. One of the most exciting parts is becoming an International Triathlete!
It is thrilling to be an ambassador for the second year! When you come to check-in, look for me! I will be there to assist and answer questions. If you have not done a point-to-point race, Barrelman is a great first one. The volunteers are excellent in moving your gear from swim to bike transition to the bike to run transition, all under the guidance of John Salt and his excellent staff.
My biggest supporter, my husband, Marty, will be there to assist you in any way possible, along with my sister and her husband.
